Richard Mille (Richard Mille perfect) announced in 2010 a partnership with tennis sports brand Rafael “Rafa” Nadal (Rafael “Rafa” Nadal) and the brand new watch RM 027. The lightweight RM 027 will laugh when placed in your hand. This is a marvel of engineering tough enough to withstand the incredible vitality of Nadal’s wrist, and light enough to float in the water (yes, actually). Now, to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the partnership between Richard Mille and Nadal, RM 027 has launched the fifth generation and the expensive new RM 27-04.
Yes, following the very shallow (almost invisible) footsteps of 027, we have 2013 rm27-01, 2015 rm27-02, 2017 wild rm 27-03 and amazing new RM 27-04 . Compared to the more common commuter fare options, the list of specifications looks like a supercar. total weight? 30 grams (including strap!), only 3.4 grams for the manual winding tourbillon movement for cable suspension. The case is made of a material called “TitaCarb”. Like past examples, it was designed to allow Nadal to wear it when playing tennis.
The size of 27-04 is 38.4mm wide, 47.25mm toe tip, and 11.4mm thick. It is a hollow tonneau watch. Likewise, I don’t like tennis, but I think these are very cool exercises for cutting-edge mechanical watchmaking and legitimate and interesting ambassador marketing.
RM 27-04 can undoubtedly make your wallet lighter than 30 grams, but this is only a problem for a small group of wealthy and privileged nerds. As for the rest of us, we need to be satisfied with the hope of seeing a crossing one day (or while watching Nadal chase more victories on the tennis court).
