New Rolex Sky-Dweller Oysterflex Bracelet

Yes, a new 41mm size Submariner was launched today, but do you think this is the only trick for the “crown” to stand by? Even more exciting is that Rolex also released a series of new Sky-Dwellers 18k yellow gold and Everose gold Oysteflex bracelet. Simply put, this is the same Sky-Dweller we all know, just with a new bracelet. Now, although “strap replacement” may not seem to be the most exciting thing in the world, these new watches look very cool.

This is not the first time we have seen brands iterate existing models in this way. Rolex Daytona was released on Oysterflex in 2017, just like this new Sky-Dweller, only precious metals. Sky-Dweller is the brand’s most complicated timepiece. It used to have leather strap and Oyster strap. It is now part of the Oysterflex folding. One of the additional advantages of Oysterflex is the popular sliding lock adjustment system, which can easily and instantly adjust the size of the bracelet.

The watch is equipped with Rolex’s self-produced 9001 calibre, which was unveiled with Sky-Dweller at the 2012 Basel Watch Fair. The 9001-type movement is equipped with blue Parachrom hairspring and a 72-hour power reserve, and provides a power watch for dual time and annual calendar functions.

Please note that this is called an Oysterflex strap, not a rubber strap. This is because, unlike rubber straps, Oysterflex is more like a bracelet. As the name suggests, it consists of flexible metal blades made of titanium and nickel alloys. The blades are overmolded with high-performance black elastomer, which is very durable. The bottom of the bracelet has a longitudinal cushion to help improve comfort and wear resistance.

Given that this is an iteration of the existing model-this is an update if you wish-the watch remains the same 42 mm size. In addition, it also has a rotatable bezel with a groove, which is used to coordinate the watch with the Ring Command system. As mentioned earlier, there are multiple Sky-Dweller variants receiving this new update: three dial colors are gold, and three dial colors are Everose gold.
