Breitling Aviator 8 B35 Automatic Unitime 43 review
Today we will review the watches that can make life easier for jet aircraft like yours.
What do actors Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, John Travolta and Adam Driver have in common? In addition to requiring them to live in the air and on the road? They all like Breitling, an independent luxury watch manufacturer that has won a respected position in the hearts of watch collectors and enthusiasts around the world. Today, we will review the watches that can make life on these jets easier.
Enter Breitling Aviator 8 B35 Automatic Unitime 43. Essentially, it is designed for pilots because its design and design are more suitable for being in the air rather than on the ground. For Breitling, this is undoubtedly a special timepiece for many reasons. Let’s open the hood and take a look at some of the mechanisms that make this watch unique.
Breitling’s self-winding movement B35 Unitime is a COSC-certified internal observatory with a world time function and is the first of Breitling. This is Breitling’s first in-house movement without chronograph complications. In fact, it uses a function patented by Breitling, called a world time complication.
This function displays the global/world time through the internal rotating bezel, many of which display 24 major cities on the earth in 24 different time zones, and rotate together with the hour hand, so that the time can be easily judged under any circumstances, no matter where it is .
These major cities or locations are Anchorage, Auckland, Azores, Bangkok, Beijing, Denver, Dhaka, Dubai, Honolulu, Karachi, Kiev, London, Los Angeles, Mexico, Moscow, New York, Noumea, Paris , Puerto Rico, Rio de Janeiro, South Georgia, Sydney, Tokyo and Tonga.
The pedigree of COSC is impressive because almost all Breitling I have seen have one, and they are very accurate for mechanical timepieces. What surprised me was the so-called internal movement of swiss Breitling.
The B35 movement is actually built on the ETA 2892 basic movement, and then Breitling’s world time module is installed in their factory, which has some benefits. Welfare is like a good power reserve upgrade. The ETA 2892 is a 21-jewel movement that only provides a 42-hour power reserve and some other nice features, such as the second hand for precise time setting, Incabloc shock absorption system, and ball bearings for smooth automatic winding of the rotor.
However, when it was magically transformed into the Breitling B35, it had become a 41-jewel movement with a 70-hour power reserve. Of course, the addition of the world time function is also a huge bonus, but we can’t ignore the rest of the benefits.
The Breitling Aviator Unitime 8 B35 43 mm series uses a stainless steel case, and there are several models in the series. This watch uses a brown alligator leather strap, white stitching, and a silver sun pattern dial with luminous hour and minute hands, which can indicate the time in low-light conditions.
There is a Breitling rose gold “B” icon at 12 o’clock on the dial, with a luminous triangle and Arabic numeral hours, and a black printed minute track with railroad style.
The inner bezel is divided into two colors: blue and black. The white Arabic numerals display the numbers 1 to 24, and the silver part around the dial shows the city name with black printing.
The case provides a steel bidirectional rotating bezel with a notch for a firm grip. It has a polished and brushed finish, with a width of 43 mm and a thickness of 14.55 mm. It has the kind of weight you would expect to get so many luxury timepieces from the inside. The curved lugs are comfortable to wear.
The strap is fixed by brushed and polished steel pin buckle/tang buckle, and the Breitling “B” icon and wordmark are engraved on the bottom. It can be paired with a black, brown or blue alligator leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet with a folding (unfolding) clasp. The watch comes with a silver or black dial.
There are many things to like about this swiss watch. The added world time function is definitely a plus, and it’s fun to watch. This is a sturdy watch with an excellent COSC certified movement and an above-average power reserve.
