Experience the Breitling Endurance Pro athlete’s watch for yourself
Whether you’re a fighter pilot, a civilian pilot, or just an out-and-out tool watch enthusiast, chances are your first encounter with Breitling will be one of its professional watches – a line of stylish quartzes – since its official debut as Aerospace in 1985 , has always been one of the core collections of the brand. In the past three and a half years, the Professional umbrella has changed dramatically, from the entry-level Aerospace to more feature-rich offerings such as the rugged Chronospace, the state-of-the-art Exospace and the mighty Emergency – a legendary adventure watch, The ability to summon a helicopter (ie: the world’s most expensive Uber ride) and sideways when things actually happen. Given its cool, modern aesthetic and long tradition of high-precision, versatile utility watches, the Professional collection is the natural home for Breitling’s new Endurance Pro – another category-specific tool watch, this time for athletes.
As far as its Professional range of stabilizers goes, the new Endurance Pro is probably most similar in proportion and function to the Chronospace Evo – a fully analog derivative of the ana-digi hybrid Aerospace Evo. Despite being marketed in the pilot market, the Hyundai Aerospace is already an excellent multisport and adventure watch (and the perfect bike watch, I’ll add), thanks to its light weight, ease of wearing, and versatility. According to reports, the new Endurance carries the torch, with a design inspired by Breitling ambassador and three-time Ironman World Champion Jan Frodeno, and the watch incorporates a number of new elements, including being lighter than titanium A 30% Breitlight carbon fiber composite case, a bi-directional rotating compass bezel (likely from Chronospace Military), and a subtly updated aesthetic seem to reflect the new artistic direction of the entire professional collection.
Now, whether you’re a professional athlete like Frodeno or a fitness enthusiast logging miles from 9 to 5, if you run, swim or bike and appreciate a watch, you already know that finding the “right” watch can make You stay on time, and dutifully maintaining your wrist tanline during training season can be a tricky business. An oversized diver’s watch or pilot’s watch may have the shock resistance necessary to keep an automatic movement running accurately, but these larger designs often trade legibility for weight — and a distracting, top-heavy watch is hardly right choice, especially for longer or more strenuous jobs. Conversely, while a cheap battery-powered watch might be the safest concession in this situation (especially in the event of a bump or fall), it certainly lacks Certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ many athletes seek when they need to personalize their gear or riding kit.
Obviously, most professional athletes tend to train or compete with GPS-enabled digital devices that measure effort and comprehensively track workout data, but just as a professional divemaster might wear a digital dive computer on every outing, Endurance doesn’t. Means to replace such a device, its purpose is to complement it. For the same reason I ride a Wahoo Roam which shows power, heart rate, VAM (while climbing) and distance and altitude metrics, but I leave the day’s timing to my wrist as I just prefer to wear a watch . Plus, I’m dead on a bike ride outside, at least being able to get home in time for brunch is never a bad thing. Two is one, one is no, right? best replica watch site
Ultimately, what struck me in particular was that Breitling actually touched on the cool element of a sports watch, but was actually useful in practice — you know, as a sports watch. True to what I’ve come to expect from a Breitling, it’s rich in detail, very masculine in design and well made. In the same tradition, it’s also large and unobtrusive, but barely wearable – thanks to the impressive lightness of its 44mm x 12.5mm Breitlight case, which weighs just 35 grams without the rubber strap ( Interestingly, the straps weigh about the same, adding 30 grams to the total package). It’s powered by a quartz movement — and while that might not be the first choice for many watch lovers, it’s actually a safer and more accurate option from workout to workout in practice.
Equipped with the Chronospace Evo, the movement in question deployed for the Endurance is an in-house manufactured 1/10 second quartz chronograph movement, although unlike the above, the Endurance uses Breitling’s Calibre 82, which is registered at 9 with the Evo’s 24-hour :00 is the 30-minute counter. It’s a thermally compensated, COSC-certified Chronometer movement, and it’s great to see that some brands are still catering to HAQ (High Precision Quartz) watch fans – aside from the athlete community.

Like the rest of the Aerospace Evo line, the new Endurance is water-resistant to 100 meters, making it plenty resistant to sweat and swimming during any workout. With a lug width of 22mm and a lug-to-lug dimension of 52mm, it has nearly the same footprint as existing Aerospace products, although the sculpted lines on the case are more refined, with a deep, twisted lyre-style watch lugs, create a cool bevel on the 9:00 side of the strap. Thanks to the subtle pattern of the Breitlight material, the entire case has a very warm and organic look and feel on the wrist – an effect that contrasts with bright blues, yellows, oranges, reds or whites. Other accents like the rubber face of the crown, the steeply sloping pulsometer chapter ring (interesting touch, although I can’t imagine any serious athlete giving up their Whoop for this), while the gold 3-6-9 and Breitling machine The wing elements all give a very cohesive and premium feel that I can only describe as “unique Breitling”. Speaking of which, the only design criticism I might have about the new Endurance is the applied 3-6-9 notation. These have always been one of my favorite styles from the Pro collection, and cutting each of them out to make room for other dial elements feels a bit like a design heresy.
The design brief for the Endurance is available in a variety of coloured straps and dials, and is built around an ultra-light composite case that feels a bit like a nod to the original fiberglass case TAG Heuer F1 watches that also came on the market in the late 80s for sports use. In many ways, this particular reference is the first Swiss watch for a whole generation of cyclists who may remember them being worn by stars of the American 7-Eleven cycling team, such as Bob Roll, Davis Phinney and Andy Hampsten. Unlike the rather crude F1 watches (though they may be nostalgic), the Endurance is a sleek, premium, more modern watch that strikes just the right balance of style and practicality.
