The Richard Mille RM 47 Tourbillon pushes the limits of creativity. This artifact has a place in the brand’s fine jewelry collection. The entire case of the watch is hand-carved by sculptor Pierre-Alain Lozeron. Next, his wife Valérie Lozeron painted a samurai armor depicting the multi-faceted values of traditional Japanese culture.
Richard Mille RM 47 Tourbillon replica: Spirit, Military Quality
Samurai armor made of 3N gold. The material is reminiscent of the gold leaf often used to decorate sacred temples across Japan. They also embody the best of Japanese craftsmanship.
Many design details are reminiscent of Asano, a name that symbolizes the samurai spirit of the land of the rising sun. In the 18th century, the warlord Naga Asano was the leader of 47 Romans. After Asano’s death, the samurai also performed abdominal incision. According to Marshal Asano, their deaths were honorable. (This is one of the most famous stories of the samurai spirit and was adapted into a Hollywood movie of the same name.)
Japanese culture permeates every detail
The family coat of arms (Kamon) or coat of arms is located on the tourbillon at 6 o’clock. The two crossed feathers represent power in rebellion and the authority of the marshal. This symbol was once meticulously engraved on the ears of warrior helmets.
The crown of the RM 47 Tourbillon is made of titanium, carbon TPT® and polished 3N gold. There is a Japanese maple leaf pattern on the crown pusher. They represent the seasons of the year, the beauty and shortness of life.luxury new watches
Finally, at the bottom are two scabbards. The point of the sword is pointing upwards, in case it needs to be unsheathed. This decorative pattern is a work of sculpture and engraving. This detail requires the meticulousness, patience, enthusiasm and skilled hands of the craftsman.
“The distance between the hilt and the blade, between the blade and the cut is created through a special carving technique. There are many similarities in quality as a samurai and as a carver like us.” – Pierre El-Alain Lozeron –
The artisan spends no less than 16 consecutive hours carving and 9 hours painting. This time equates to a day and completes the 11 parts of the samurai; perfectly integrated on the front, back and around the RM 47 tourbillon movement.
Combining modern mechanical engineering with rare materials
Like a guardian angel, this armor protects the RM47’s hand-wound movement. To ensure optimum performance of the movement, the baseplate and exposed bridges are made of grade 5 titanium with black PVD treatment. This combination gives the watch a high degree of corrosion resistance, excellent hardness and a perfectly flat surface.
The case, movement and design of the RM 47 have been carefully crafted to ensure aesthetic harmony and optimize the performance of each element. The RM 47 Tourbillon case features Richard Mille’s famous barrel shape and consists of three parts: a 3N gold strap; black TZP ceramic bezel and back.
The Richard Mille RM 47 Tourbillon evokes the spirit and noble dignity of a samurai with its unique beauty. At the same time, it also reflects Richard Mille’s firm will to pursue perfection and respect tradition.
