Corum GOLDEN BRIDGE STREAM

Corum unveiled its latest addition to the Golden Bridge collection in Baselworld 2017. The Golden Bridge Stream presents itself as a reinvent of the original Golden Bridge, paying homage to the “bridge” that crosses it. Like all Golden Bridge models, its structure is visually appealing through the use of its linear design, curves and arches.

The design cues for the Golden Bridge Stream comes from a huge phenomenon in (then) contemporary architecture, streamlining. This phenomenon came about back in the early 1930s and the 1960s where companies started streamlining production lines for mass production of goods. This is embodied by the flowing and extremely dynamic curves of the Golden Bridge Stream and is the epitome of the fusion of shape and substance, defining its own style.
The Golden Bridge Stream comes in a rectangular rose gold case with a thickness of just 14.70 mm, making it an excellent choice as a dress watch. The eye-catching part of this timepiece has to be the automatic baguette-shaped movement, forming a symbolic bridge that features decoration inspired by San Francisco’s famous Golden Gate Bridge.

The case has a rectangular footprint with a rounded, barrel like shape in its cross section. The whole case looks rather elegant, slim, long with sensuous curves at the right places.

The case has sapphire glass on both sides, and the movement is visible at dead center from both sides.
We are impressed with the craftsmanship involved in the creating of the Golden Bridge Stream. It is certainly at a very high level especially when you take a closer look at the decoration and the intricate details for every curve and arch. The clear sapphire crystal also reveals outstanding skills, a perfect miniaturization of the structure of the Californian suspension bridge.
The Replica Corum Golden Bridge Stream is powered by the CO 313 movement which operates at 28,800 vph and features a power reserve of 40 hours. The CO 313 was specially designed such that its components are lined up in the shape of a column where the bridge holds it up together. The bridge structure holding the movement are constructed in rose gold. Two versions are offered, one in a full rose gold movement including the bridge structure in rose gold, and another with the rose gold bridge structure coated in a red lacquer.
The plate of the movement features mechanic and rectilinear engraving which gives the movement its own character and boosts the visual appeal of the timepiece. The movement itself is rather special. The original Golden Bridge movement was developed by Vincent Calabrese in 1980, and the name refers to the single linear bridge in gold where all the wheel train is attached. This was and still is a quite amazing miniaturization work and the entire movement can be seen from top (12 o’clock) with the barrel to the bottom (6 o’clock) with the balance.

The modern version uses the same concept, but completely re-constructed from ground up by Laurent Besse, who was responsible for the movement in the MB&F HM4. And made more robust. It lends itself to numerous watches within the Corum Golden Bridge collection.
The Corum Golden Bridge Stream Replica is an interesting timepiece from Corum and we like the design cues used in this edition of the Golden Bridge. The craftsmanship involved in this timepiece is very clear when one takes a close look at the decorations and its intricate details. Compared to past models, this edition of the Golden Bridge is well-defined by its remarkably unique architecture and certainly a good addition to the collection.

The Corum Golden Bridge Stream is available in in two editions viz full rose gold and the second version with the rose gold bridge structure in red lacquer, both in a limited release of 88 pieces each. And comes with an alligator leather strap as well as a triple folding clasp.
